A carbon monoxide alarm is an important device to have in your property. This alarm will detect the presence of carbon monoxide gas and alert you to its presence. Carbon monoxide is a colourless, odourless gas that can be deadly if inhaled. This gas is produced whenever fuel is burned. A carbon monoxide alarm can help protect you and your family from this dangerous gas.
Carbon Monoxide Alarms should be installed where gas appliances, gas fires, wood burners, or open fires are present. If not installed, they can cause danger to life. Each alarm has an expiry date and should be tested annually to ensure compliance.
Carbon Monoxide Alarms are required to be as close to all gas appliances as possible. If your appliances are in separate locations, additional alarms are required. See examples below:
1 gas meter outside – internal gas boiler and gas hob or oven in the same kitchen area: 1 x alarm required.
2 gas meter internal example under stairs cupboard and gas boiler in kitchen 2 x alarms required
3. A gas hob or oven in the kitchen and a gas boiler in the basement: 2 x alarms are required.
4. A gas hob or oven in the kitchen, a gas boiler in the basement, and an open gas fire in the lounge: three alarms are required.
A detailed report, including all alarms in all locations, will be issued upon completion of the service.
The certificate return time is between 24 and 48 hours after a site visit. Via email only in pdf format.
*Please note. Certification will not be released until payment has been received unless you are an existing account customer or have been pre-approved.
